Hey there - Welcome

I am Deepak, and am an Economist. I live next to Wall Street in New York City and I live for those days when they drape that drop dead gorgeous, Stars and Stripes flag in front of the stock exchange - ‘tis indeed a sight for sore eyes, and it takes my heart away each time

I got my PhD in Energy Economics from University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), and got trained in Finance and Statistics from Harvard Business School (HBX) Online. I have worked in the industry for more than 14 years. I taught for a long time and hence I can explain things quite a bit too

Living in the Financial District in Manhattan is inspiring, especially if you are into finance or economics. The New York Federal Reserve, New York Stock Exchange and Statue of Liberty are all very close to where I live, and it’s cathartic to walk these streets

Walking New York City is a soul-filling experience in itself - and I can unapologetically say, I fell in love with New York four years ago. I have walked every inch of these streets - these streets have character, they speak to me, and they healed me when I moved here from Seattle

So, why did I create this? I love reading posts from economics Nobel laureates and experts, but, there is so much drivel online too, masquerading as excellent economics

Hence, after decades of scrounging through the dungeons of google, X, and webpages written by someone sittin’ in their grand momma’s basement with cookie crumbs on their stomach

I got tired of reading bad reasoning for why things are happening the way they are, and irritated seeing all of the misinformation that exists online

I certainly knew I couldn't sustain showing you pictures of my bacon and eggs, or new threads, or Under Armour kicks. Jesus lord of mercy, I’d rather eat sand, ground ghost peppers and molten glass than show you pictures of my breakfast

So, I thought about what else I love to talk about, day in and day out ? and if no one paid me a pretty penny, I’d still be obsessed with economics and want to talk about it

So, I created this space, to explain to the best of my abilities, about why things look the way they do - and the reasoning behind them in the economics and finance world

Every post has a plot, so you can see it too

I am going to try and use only the best sources of information available. I am also only gonna write about what I find exciting, and hopefully you feel that sense of excitement as well

Ask me questions anytime. This page will forever be a work in progress and it will be unapologetically me

oh - and dead cat bounce ? I am gonna let you figure it out :-)
